Part II: Lose Weight WITHOUT Drastic Changes
In my opinion, the #1 reason I see most people fail at losing fat, or losing it and keeping it off, is this: they attempt to make DRASTIC CHANGES in their eating (and fitness) lifestyle overnight, can’t maintain the changes or even fully handle them, and they quit reverting back to the easier “old” ways of doing things. Hence, they lose weight for a while, but when they can’t keep up the (usually drastic) behavioral changes that helped them lose weight in the first place, they quit that behavior and the fat comes back full force. This is the cycle. If you truly want to lose weight, it has NOTHING to do with an expensive program, pills, “points”, weigh-ins, fitness videos — none of that will ultimately work if the behavior you are trying to change is too drastic, too much too soon. The BEST and most powerfully permanent way to lose fat, burn fat whenever you want, and lose unwanted pounds is to change your behavior one TINY little step by one TINY little step over a period of many months or years. You will finally reach an ideal weight and you will have done it on such a subconscious level that you won’t even recognize the changes that others can’t help but see in you. You will still be critical of your body after losing 70 pounds, but your friends will say, “Holy COW, what are you doing??”.
Time. Time and patience are you best and most powerful tools to permanent weight loss. To get specific guidance and understanding of the 3 easiest adjustments you need to make to lose weight forever, you can find answers in an eBook titled, “The Most Simple Diet Ever!”. Written by someone who’s actually done it, not just researched or studied it.
Fitness also falls in this category and you’ll see why in a moment. This is my favorite obstacle to dieting because it was always my favorite thing to do when I started a new diet. I’m a “Hard Core” type of personality. To identify yourself with One of Three specific weight loss personality types, go here. When I learned about a new way to burn fat, I was all over it. I know lots of people who do the same thing. Here’s what happens: you read a book, an article, see a program for weight loss on television, then you decide you are going to do ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING they tell you to do, right from day one! Really? Is this the best way to make changes for the long term? We usually only make these kinds of drastic changes if we’re forced, through trauma, loss or devastation, but when we’re dieting?? Why would any of us suddenly attempt to drop ALL sugar from our diet, cut the types of foods we’re eating, how much we’re eating and then on top of it, start trying to be a runner and gym rat when we usually cringe at the thought? This is trying to do it all at once and it never, never works. Simple and easy steps are the key.
